MAYA KALMAN NAMED TO WEDDING INDUSTRY SURVEY NETWORK ADVISORY BOARD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York – Tucson: August 24, 2010 – In their ongoing efforts to fill the need for timely and accurate information in the wedding business, the Wedding Industry Survey Network (WISN) names Maya Kalman of Swank Productions to its advisory board.

Maya Kalman began her career in the events business in an unusual way—by having her own nuptials appear on a Food Network’s reality wedding program. That was ten years ago; since, Swank Productions has grown into one of the leading event design firms in New York City. Kalman’s ability to transform empty spaces into lasting experiences is just one of the things that set her apart. Her events are “one-offs” that exude uniqueness and a style that is all her own. Her attributes, specifically, listening to her clients, are credited for much of her success in creating what they want. The feat is very difficult when dealing with people of affluence but Kalman’s flair, style and grace continue to rise above the growing challenges.

Besides running Swank Productions Maya is often called upon by almost every major publication from New York Magazine to MTV’s “TRL”. Maya is asked to speak about what’ hot and what’s not in the event industry, as well as hosting events for every major brand within the industry including Conde Nast, W Magazine, Brides.com, In Style, The Knot, BizBash and a host of others. Maya has also appeared on several media programs including NBC’s Today Show, BBC Radio and even several Asian morning shows.

“I feel like I can really bring a different perspective to this group and get others to think in a certain way. Right now it’s all about pricing which is fine. But in the end, pricing means little if the event is not the optimum success that it should be—at any cost,” says Kalman.

“I’ve been watching what Maya has been doing. She definitely represents a very unique segment of the market and I look forward to hearing what she has to say about data findings. I really believe that the entire group will be enriched by her influence,” said Shane McMurray, creator and head of the Wedding Industry Survey Network.
